Movie Review

True Grit Dir. Joel and Ethan Coen — 7.5

A very nice update of the John Wayne classic which has the brains to tone down the usual Coen brother's directorial tics, as well as use almost all the dialog directly out of the fantastic novel by Charles Portis that it's based on. Jeff Bridges is a little more broken down in some scenes than others, and Matt Damon is a little too Matt Damon to entirely pull off the Anti-Bourne, but the acting level is high throughout.
