Movie Review

Kick Ass dir. Matthew Vaughn — 7.2

Although insanely and sadistically violent, this is a pretty smart and clever adaptation of the comic. Lots of nice dialog and realistic high school touches interspersed with head explosions and disembowlings. The little girl who plays Hit Girl is great, and at least they had the sense to cast the lead nerd with a little bit of muscle on him so you could sort of buy it when he punched someone in costume. Nick Cage, on the other hand, who kills about 57 people, looks like he's on a permanent watercress diet. Old and frail and totally ludicrous as Big Daddy.
And, Twitter too… Also on Facebook
