Movie Review

The Foot-Fist Way dir. Jody Hill — 6.1

Pretty seriously over-rated. A couple of hilarious scenes, but mostly half-baked Napoleon Dynamite derivations. All the characters are a little too clueless to be really funny, and too mean to be interesting. Not an ounce of nuance, but at least it's not trying for any. It was a relief when the band got their asses kicked during the party scene. On the other hand, Danny McBride clearly had to get this sort of tamer version down first before re-vamping it in the much better and completely hilarious Eastbound And Down. Rent that instead.

"The propane was gone. The first-aid kits were gone. Even the at-screen TVs were gone. What were they going to plug them into, a Lurker’s ass?"
