Movie Review

Dexter Season 1 dir. Michael Cuesta — 5.6

I know this is really popular and lot's of people have adopted it. And it definitely had a sense of style and good acting and a fair amount of wit. But, I just wasn't buying the celebration of utter amorality. Or the torture, dismemberment, and murder. It's not dark comedy, it's the legitimization of the Serial Killer as a iconic character in american culture, like the Hit Man and the Crime Boss. It's the legitimzation of madness, cruelty, and torture porn. It's utterly distasteful and shameful. Or, maybe I'm just getting old.
